Psychiatry posting

1st day of psychiatry posting:
Hoping that it will be a interesting posting as I have so much interest in psychology. But realized that it is 2 different thing that we are talking abt. But some co-relations are there. Understand vaguely the meanings of certain personality description and there comes the 'Medical Student Syndrome'...

Anaskastic aka Obsessive–compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) is a personality disorder which involves an obsession with perfection, rules, and organization. People with OCPD may feel anxious when they perceive that things are not right. This can lead to routines and rules for ways of doing things, whether for themselves or their families. Some people with OCPD, but not all of them, show an obsessive need for cleanliness.

Sounds like me?? lol...maybe a little of this...

2nd day of psychiatric posting :
Attended a case conference...hmmm...nothing much to talk abt as I don't understand most of the things discussed.

3rd day of psychiatry posting :
Very interesting. Learned abt mental status examination. First time trying to take history from a psychiatric patient prior to reading the file. Find difficulties to extract information from the patient as her words are inconsistent and i supposed, not very reliable. Find it difficult to, not laugh when the patient said something, which is so not a ethic to practice. Realized the importance of art of communication in psychiatry.

At the end of the posting, I wish I can understand my emotions and behavior more as to why the emotional and mood fluctuation is there in me so often.
Things has changed and for me, always, new adjustment is better and easier than holding on to it. 面子问题? maybe...or perhaps this is what we called 'avoidance' ...I always advice ppl to face the problem and not running away, but it has always been a tough one for me. I'm frustrated over this, but I guess this is my personality, which cannot be changed with a click of time. But good thing that I have not fallen into the 'depression' catogory....maybe I'm still in the adjustment phase... which is very often seen in normal population.

So far, I'm liking psychiatry posting. :-)
